Franco “Bifo” Berardi:
The Encapsulation of Future in the Past
“From 1964 to 1999 social consciousness and techno-evolution converged in an unprecedented ay, and the possibility of emancipation of the potencies of knowledge from the Gestalt (coding form that generates forms) of capitalism was at hand. Then the nihilist force of financial capitalism prevailed, and the punk premonition became true: techno-evolution and human consciousness diverged and the future has been turned into high-tech prehistory. The potencies of the general intellect still exist, in the connected brain of cognitariat, but they are inert, unable to turn into a social process of subjectivation.”

FRANCO “BIFO” BERARDI ist eine historische Figur des italienischen Aufruhrs der 1970er. Er gründete die Zeitschrift A/Traverso (1975-1981) sowie den Piratensender Radio Alice(1976-1978). Vor der Repression in Frankreich geflüchtet, wurde er zum Weggefährten Félix Guattaris und Michel Foucaults. Nach wie vor engagiert sich der Philosoph und Aktivist für Subjektivierung, Solidarität und die Autonomie der kognitiven Arbeit. Er hat die European School of Social Imagination (SCEPSI) gegründet und lehrt zurzeit am Istituto tecnico industriale Aldini Valeriani in Bologna.
